Biostar TPower I45 Review
Biostar is one of the computer hardware manufacturer based in taiwan. Biostar produced motherboard and VGA Card. Biostar products known for quality but with cheaper price. One of the moterboard that produced by Biostar is Biostar TPower i45. I own this motherboard. I use this motherboard on my computer.
Biostar launched TPower i45 after Intel launches P45 chipset. Biostar TPower I45 use FSB (Front Side Bus) up to 1600 Mhz, it’s supported Wolfdake and Yorkfield Intel processor generation . This motherboard use DDR2 Memory with up to 1066 MHz frequency (normal condition) and up to 1200 Mhz frequency (overclock condition). There are 4 slot of DDR2 Memory with dual channel mode and support up to 16 GB of memory.
Crossfire Support
One of the typical range TPower is the use of jumpers on the red area around the expansion slots. Eight of jumpers are used to enable CrossFire mode. However, it’s quite difficult, because the motherboard in another process takes place automatically without using jumpers.
Overclockers Button
For additional features, Biostar TPower I45 include power and reset buttons for users that usually work when not using the PC casing. There is also a debug LED light that functions diagnose system if an error occurs while booting. However clear CMOS buttons that are usually used by overclockers not included.
Hybrid Space-Pipe
For overclockers, the temperature becomes hot about the scourge. To solve this problem, Biostar TPower I45 included a fan to be named the Hybrid Space-Pipe. Fan is used as an alternative to adequate before you switch enthusiastic cooler.
Overcloking Software
TPower Series features include monitoring and tweaking of the hardware and software. On the software side, Biostar include application TPower2. In it there is option 4 with the main function of the OC tweaking to do the overclocking in the operating system, eHot-Line for services online, BIOS-watch to monitor the system, and Biostar Flash to update BIOS.
AMI BIOS
Biostar TPower I45 used AMI BIOS that is popular, there are overclocking features on the ONE (Overclocking Navigator Engine) with auto and manual options. To maintain the possibility of damage to the BIOS, such recovery is also included with the name of Self Recovery System (SRS). This system will work if the overclock failed, and the configuration will automatically return to the default position. Convenience is also a BIOS update the value to be important features of the Biostar with BIO-Flasher. This feature allows to update the BIOS flash disk. Do not forget there are also features of the CMOS reloading program that is capable of saving up to 10 different configurations.
Overclock
From the results of the test that, I able to increase the processor’s default FSB 266MHz to 480MHz. When I try the Intel core2duo E8400 (3 GHz), I successfully raise the clock speed to reach 4 GHz Increased high enough this indicates that this motherboard is strong and stable. Moreover, my method is quite simple overclock, so for the extreme overclockers still able to perform higher overclocking because the support options of that BIOS is complete.
